My thoughts:~ Well, this one really stood out because I'm working on Inferno, which is based on the popular prison drama OZ.  It really makes me sad.  I never gave much thought to prison or anything, even though I have a few uncles who did stints.  I watched OZ and really began to connect to some of those characters.  Granted, not all, maybe only a handful, but there are prisoners who made a stupid mistake and are no real threat to society.  But, hat is not what this Camus is saying.  What he is basically trying to say here is sinners can't condemn other sinners.  Don't jump down my throat.  I'm not saying that people don't deserve to be punished or go to prison.  I don't really know what I am saying.  Let's just stick to the quote.  LOL I think his point was, that whole judge not lest you be judged.  With the exception of baby rapers and people who torture and kill kids, and serial killers, I have a really hard time believing that a person is completely evil.  Maybe it is just like the rest of life.

There seem to be no absolute truths to life.  Nothing is really black or white, just different shades of grey.  Nobody is strictly evil, just as nobody is only good.  I think every human being possess within them, the capactiy to be both.  Life is a series of environment, choices, and circumstances.  Some just make tragically wrong ones.  The punishment does not always fit the crime either.  Our justice system is so screwed up it often seems that the people who really need punished slip through the cracks.  Eh...I think I'm on a soapbox today because I really feel empathy for my main character.  Everyone just thinks he's this evil "thug born to kill" but that's not true.  He does have a nasty, volatile temper.  Maybe he's not the sweetest guy in the world.  He spews every four letter word there is and then some quite often, but he has the capacity to do good and he has done so.  He did what he had to do in the name of "Family and business."  Okay okay, I will get down. 

YAY!  We have heat again and a new thermastat.  It's the little things in life that make me so happy!Alllrighty.  I have to say that I love Matty's journal.  It's THE place to sit and drool if you like Dave Batista.  (how could anyone not?)   Plus she mention's Steve Austin and I just love that guy.  Just hearing his name mentioned makes me grin from ear to ear.    I truly do love the bad boys.  *sighs*  I'm not going to defend my views or my choices, because they are my right.  I'm entitled to have opinions and stray from the rest of the flock.  Just call me the happy wanderer!  LOL  Alright, on that note, I am out of here to go get some writing done.  Oh and SMILE!  Tomorrow is FRIDAY!

ITA on what you wrote ... I watched Oz too and defenitely thought that Beecher was one of those guys who shouldn't been in that type of prison. In the end it turned him into a type of person that he ended up hating. Do I believe that people should be punished? Yes, as certain actions have consequences and if you aren't ready to live with those consequences then you should spend a little more time think about what you are about to do.

I also agree that some punishments here DO NOT fit the crime ... It just boggles my mind how people who hurt children sexually and otherwise are given sentences that really do not seem THAT harsh at all to me .. sigh ... but I guess we are tougher than some other countries as I found out that in some places they get "Probation" instead of jail time for a first offense, can you believe that?

Also, I have a thing for Bad boys too... but complex bad boys because they are interesting to me ... did you see the movie "Collateral" ? Now I have never been the type to watch a Tom Cruise movie and lust after him .. I enjoy his films but I just have never lusted after him ... well in Collateral the bad guy he plays is really complex and I love it because he isn't just a brainless "Evil" guy and I didn't Think that Tom could pull it off but he did ..

I also loved Austin, at the height of his popularity there was no one better, I just loved everything he did. I hear that he might be part of Wrestlemania, how ? I am not sure but it will be fun to see him in the ring again.

Exactally! Poor Beechball. I just love him and all of his tragic pouts. He should have been punished but I don't think getting sent to OZ benefited him or society in any way! That place was for the worst of the worst and it made him all crazy. LOL. Maybe a minimum security facility would have been more appropriate. But I really was thinking of him when I wrote that blurb.

Well, maybe we aren't so screwy after all. I think there would be total outrage and lynch mobs forming here if those kind of offenders were given probation. That's just crazy.

MMM...bad boys and Austin, don't get me started! I don't know what he will do at Wrestlemania, but I do know that he just signed a three movie deal, so at least he will still be around for me to lay my hungry eyes on! YAY!
